Last week, our experts travelled to Holland to learn more about dairy farming. Here is Henk Bles and Wytze Heida of Bless Dairies stressing the importance of passion, discipline and logical thinking in dairy farming during the tour.

Today we had a great time sharing knowledge with our farmers. Knowledge exchange can happen everywhere, under a tree, in the farm or in a classroom.

It is said that 1kg of silage can cost as low as Ksh 5 when made of the farm. Thats why in our trainings, we focus on encouraging farmers to plant own maize and make silage. today we have had a successfull silage preparation demos in meru.

It all starts by having its knowledge. Dairy farming is a real business. With knowledge farmers are safe and willing to invest.

I took farmers from Kinoro Dairy cooperative for an exchange visit to Mbuyu farm.

Nowadays it has become our norm to invite input suppliers and service providers to come and join us in training farmers.

Because seeing is believing, I conduct 70% of my training where the cows are. As expected, farmers concentrate better and adopt more.

Today I am facilitating lead farmers meeting at Chure Dairy cooperative. We are sharing ideas on how we can produce more milk at a cheaper cost.
